This date night I had been planning for awhile, we'd visited "The Works" before, but never had the time that I feel the restaurant requires.
We decided to attend a movie afterwards for the classic dinner and a movie date night. We hit up Jackson Square where in the lovely winter we were able to hit up both stops within the same building.
At The Works I ordered the warpig and the hubs ordered the dead ringer, as well as a chocolate cherry milkshake to share. The tower of onion rings to share is highly recommended as an appetizer as well.
If you hit up this restaurant a lot yourself some time, the cooking of the burger takes a good 20-30 minutes and with their expansive options the menu always takes me a good 15-20 minutes to chew through.
The sweet potato fries I attempted this time were a bit limp to be honest, the cucumber and celery the hubs got were crisp and refreshing with all the heavy goodness we were devouring. Server knew her stuff and aside from some teenyboppers packing it in on both sides the ambiance was decent, music just the right volume to actually hear one another and interact.
Following dinner we went to the movie theater in Jackson Square. Now if your from Hamilton, you know Jackson Square and if you're not; Well its definitely an experience. It is huge, and a bit confusing if you don't know the lay of the land, but there is generally some very interesting people hanging around who might be able to help you with directions/ Or keep your eyes peeled for a map and take a photo. seriously i seem to get turned around every time I am there.
The movie theater is adequate. It gets the job done, it has a basic concession stand and a safe neede drop in the bathroom (I am not joking here folks). Some of the seats were broken and a feeling of unease was working its way into my clammy hands. But once the movie started we relaxed and enjoyed it. Until the color started going way off and we were seeing Ben Stiller is 50 shades of blue on the big screen. The theatre was accomodating after a few attampts at solving this issue we recieved free movie passes for another time after the movie had finished.
Overall this is the most basic of date nights and what I'll refer to as the reliable date night. It allows for face to face interaction with deep thought, it allows for you not to cook your own meal. It also allows for some mindless movie time while hand holdin or necking in the back row. the choice is yours.
